Categories? Product groups? Is it the same?
If this is not the same.
How do you assign products to categories?

it is the same.
Just corrected this in the documentation section.
Indeed, in an early version of SilverCart a category management was implemented, but we discarded that an put it into a separate module.
Unfortunately, the module was not refined since at least one year because there was no need to do that.
