I am very happy to see our E-Commerce Module for SilverStripe being adopted and used by other SilverStripe developers and accepted by customers other than ours. Especially remarkable is the fact that the first productive non-pixeltricks SilverCart installation is based in the UK.
Some products come in different sizes, colors, shapes, patterns, flavours, materials and whatnot. These are called product variations.
The all new widget system gives backend authors an enormous freedom of design. Sets of widgets can be configured and placed individually on any page of the site tree. These sets can be placed in the sidebar or the content area.
In the last article I talked about price portals and shopping carts. Price portal need your product catalog and they need to link to every single product as well. Thats what you need deeplinks for. A deeplink consists of your online stores domain plus a further url segment which is a product attribute, maybe the product number. Here is an example:
If you are selling products competing with many other vendors, registering your product catalog at a price portal can be a very efficient marketing measure.
You just installed a new software and you really want to know how it feels and what features it has got. Computer games often provide tutorial levels with audio comments and fancy item highlighting.
With version 1.2 we tackled some major problems that prevented SilverCart from being loved by the community. There are already some installations running that were done by other SilverStripe developers and not by developed by our agency pixeltricks. But we would love to see SilverCart being adopted more widely.
